Target Grade: 7-12

A study of the chemical composition of toothpaste is not only a valuable scientific activity, but a good reinforcement of principles of hygiene as well. Students evaluate several toothpastes for percentage of solids, pH, foam formation, abrasive action, and specific substances. They use this data to make judgments about their effectiveness.
