Ring Thrower Lenz Law

A very dramatic and interest-catching equipment, which demonstrates induction and teaches Eddy Currents / Lenz Law.

It consists of a coil of wire wound on an iron core, enclosed in a clear acrylic cylinder, connected to a source of alternating current. When a solid aluminum ring is placed around the coil and the coil is energized the ring shoots up 12 ft in the air, because of eddy current. If the solid ring is replaced with a aluminum ring but with a slot there is no effect. For safety and precaution the push switch energizes the coil operates only once when the switch is pressed and also prevents over heating of the coil. Operates on 110V AC. Supplied with two Aluminum Rings.
