Reaction Rate Factors I

Target Grade: 9-12

These exciting kits introduce students to four factors which affect the rate of chemical reaction: heat, concentration, catalyst, and surface area. Through the use of various neutralization reactions and acid base indicators, students are able to time the rate of chemical reactions by observing specific color changes. The indicators used in these kits provide colorful results which hold the student's interest. The activity sheets provided in these kits focus the students attention on factors which affect reaction rates and the commercial significance of some of these factors. The laboratory units included contain information sheets, activity sheets, four laboratory exercises, a crossword puzzle, test and answer key.
