Coulometric Titration of Sodium Thiosulfate with Iodine
In this experiment you will determine the concentration of Na2S2O3 present in a solution. You will place a known number of drops of this solution into a vessel, and then add to this an excess of potassium iodide (KI) and a few drops of starch solution. Two electrodes will then be inserted into the solution and the electrodes will be connected to a variable voltage source (9V battery and a potentiometer, see Figure 1). A milliameter (mA) will also be included in the circuit to measure the current.
