As the steel spheres track a pattern on the kit's turntable, students simulate the effect of the Earth's rotation on winds, ocean currents and material objects. The high-contrast turntable allows for recording sheet to trace movement. The Coriolis effect is investigated when an object moves on a rotating surface and appears to curve with no outside forces applied. Includes two steel balls and ramp to initiate balls onto turntable.
